The ICGS aims to give aid to girls, without distinction of race or nationality and with respect for their culture and their religion, who, for various reasons, find themselves in dangerous situations, even at times in life-or-death situations.
The motto of the ICGS is "in via" because it helps those who are traveling the roads of life.
To re-integrate them into society, give them back their rights, allow them to regain their dignity, find a job and receive training are the principal aims
Welcome centers ("foyers") for lodging, advice, orientation, travel organization, professional, social and cultural training-all are included in the means by which the Society works.
The ICGS is a non-governmental organization which benefits from an international network. It is a member of the Conference of International Catholic Organizations.
"...
IN VIA : this motto says a
great deal to those who want to provide aid to whoever is traveling
the roads of life...
It says that one must above all be concerned in being individuals
who are truly "experts of the road", the road of love,
the road which is Christ."
[Excerpt from the message of Pope Jean Paul II at the delegates' Assembly in Rome, September 1980]
Noting:
the rapid evolution of society and of ways of thinking,
the difficulties encountered by young people when inserting themselves in a dehumanized world,
the lack of stability and increased mobility of girls,
the A.C.I.S.J.F. - whose goal is to help young women who do not live in a family setting - proposes the following:
- to make regularly an objective study of the services it offers in order to improve their effectiveness and, if necessary, to create new ones;
- to expand the Association and its activities, by giving particular attention to the needs of the most abandoned and destitute of the young people;
- to encourage team work and dialogueat all levels of the Association;
- to circulate information and increase exchange between the committees;
- to promote, within the Association, a regionalization, with respect to the various cultures and the diversity of situations;
- to develop a direct relationship between the International Center and the National Committees and Regional Commissions to ensure unity within the Association;
- to collaborate with those organizations having the same objectives and, whenever it is possible, with official national and international organizations.
A.C.I.S.J.F. hopes for its members :
- humane training, sufficient competence and knowledge of the world where youth is evolving;
- imagination capable of finding new solutions to new problems ;
- availability that is attentive to the needs of the young, with full respect of the "other" and for his/her liberty;
