Centennial of enfants the Paris Committee

The Catholic Girls Society Paris Committee is an association under the French Law of 1901. It is state-approved and is a member of the International Catholic Girls Society

The goal of the Paris Committee is to help girls of all cultures and all religions to acquire independence and to become a part of society.

The ACSJF Paris Committee now has at their disposal:

- the educational foyer of Unity in Life which welcomes girls under 18 years of age who are taken in charge by the Social Assistance for Children-SAC. These "adults minors" meet daily with a team of educators

- the Foyer for Young Workers which welcomes young people from 18 to 25 years of age

- The extension service of "rooms in town" welcomes girls from 18 to 21 years, taken in charge by SAC.

UNITY IN LIFE, SOCIAL ASSISTANCE FOR CHILDREN, THE CGS PARIS COMMITTEE:

Linked to the Department of Paris health scheme, Unity in Life welcomes girls from 16 to 21 years old, of all nationalities, and who are entrusted to it by SAC.

The educational project of the CGS Paris Committee is aimed at making these girls independent, that is to say, conscious of their own abilities, grown up and able to participate in social and professional life. The originality of the project lies in the co-existence of girls placed by SAC with working girls. For the first group (SAC) the possibility of spending some time, after they come of age and with the agreement SAC, in the Young Workers' Foyer is a good transition between total assistance and complete autonomy.

Framework and leisure:

In order to guide girls toward autonomy, a multi-disciplinary team of social workers meets with them and helps them to form their personality and realize their plans for social and professional involvement. Specifically, this takes place through a daily follow-up (life style, budget, school support, job hunting, activities, outside leisure, etc.).

Various workshops are proposed to the girls (cooking, computers, photography, pottery, yoga, etc.). A library, a documentation room with card files from the ICDY (International Center of Documentation for Youth), a music room, a television room (with videos available) and recreation rooms with drink dispensers and games are available to them.

THE YOUNG WORKERS' FOYER OF THE ACSJF PARIS COMMITTEE:

The Young Worker's Foyer (YWF) is, above all, a place to meet and mingle with others, in order to help residents to adapt to Life and to acquire an outlook which encourages participation in society. It is open to young women from 18 to 25 years of age who are looking for a job, training, qualification contracts, professional activity, and are most often in a precarious situation.

Its objectives are:

- offer lodging and calm and friendly living conditions that encourage starting out an active life,
- facilitate learning about group life with mutual respect,
- support job or training research and thus, as such, be able to acquire independent lodging.

A service ISFIY called Intermediary Service for Insertion of Youth, is open to residents and offers them:
- Aid in seeking a jobwhere girls, supported by a team of counselors, can ask for any type of general aid and advice for their insertion into professional life. This service works in close relationship with other "foyers" of working girls to make available to all job offers and any information able to improve benefits offered to girls.
- A "Health Station" which offers information and advice to residents on anything dealing with their "health capital" (with the AREMEDIA Association).
It should also be noted that the girls of Unity in Life, who so desire, can have access to this service.

Various workshopsare also offered to girls (cooking, computers, photography, pottery, yoga, etc.) A library, a documentation room with ICDY card files, a music room, TV room (with videos) and recreation rooms with drink dispensers and games are at their disposal.
